John is the oldest son of Jacob Hochstetler, who immigrated to the New World in 1738. Read about the history of the greater Hostetler family and find out more about us. Read a short history of John. John built the Little House in 1800 and lived there until his death in 1805. The Little House has stood for almost 200 years until the tornado of June, 98. The building suffered extensive damage and was disassembled. Now this family landmark has been reconstructed and the Little House is preserved for all to enjoy. The reconstruction site is located at the Spruce Forest Artisan Village adjacent to Penn Alps in Grantsville, Maryland.
